How People Treat People

My wife and I noticed something interesting when we moved to GA.  We noticed it at Lowe’s, in restaurants, the DMV, the doctor’s office, and other places.  We knew there would be differences between SC and GA, but we didn’t expect that this would be so noticeably different. But the difference was obvious.  What stood out to us here?

Customer service.  We’ve both had numerous positive customer service experiences since moving here.  My six year old has even commented a few times about how nice people have been.  Yes, we’ve had some negative customer service experiences since moving here (thank you Comcast), and yes, we had good customer service experiences in SC, but we’ve noticed a big difference in how we’ve been treated overall here in GA.  I honestly don’t know why this is so…although, I do have some theories.

I care a lot about customer service.  Ministry Services, the department I belong to, cares a whole lot about customer service.

What is customer service?  To me, it’s simply…

how people treat people

We all have to care about customer service at every level of our church, business, organization, family, neighborhood, etc.

Who are your customers? How is your customer service? Don’t know.  Just ask your customers.  They’ll tell you how you are treating them.

Very true. I’ve had the interesting experience of living as a yankee up in jersey, then here in the south in many different spots (ga, fl, texaaaaaaaaaas, and more) and then have lived in japan and korea for a bit (4 years… is that a bit?)…

how people treat others in these different locales has always been an intriguing to me.. and even in the south, there are different “treatments” too.

but one thing i’ve enjoyed about being in the south is that they are a lot nicer (generally speaking) than up north…

for the web team at NP, our customers span the spectrum of humanity… and spiritually for that matter.

this post is a good reminder. word.
