They Said We Wouldn’t Have Kids.
Since I made a whole section of this blog about my experiences closing a church, I thought why not share about the other time in my life when I was totally thrown a curve ball. Leading people takes a certain level of transparency, right?
In 2000, doctors told us the only way we’d ever have kids would be with their help or through adoption. One word would describe the emotions we felt: devastation. I won’t bore you with all the infertility details here, but it has been an amazing ride since then. Back in 2004, my wife and I wrote “Why Us?: a bible study for those dealing with infertility.” It’s an individual / group Bible study for people dealing with infertility. It’s been cool to see how God has used it.
If you would like to check it out for yourself or someone you know, you can download a PDF of “Why Us?”. Feel free to share it. Let me know what you think. And let me know if you or someone you know works through it.
Dear Casey, I co-authored a Bible study ten years ago for those who experience pregnancy loss. The book is entitled, Threads of Hope, Pieces of Joy. It has been such a blessing and honor to see the Lord use our little Hope’s life for His glory.
One of the requests that we have gotten consistently is to tailor the study for those dealing with infertility issues, whether or not they had experienced loss. Since my co-author and I had not dealt with infertility first-hand, we felt very inadequate to such a task.
I was so glad to run across your study on the Stepping Stones website. Thank you so much for meeting the needs of couples who are going through this experience. May the Lord bless you richly! Gwen Kik
